These self-destructing amphibians' sole purpose is anti-mass. toads are a must if your opponent is amassing ground units, particularly if it is with a heavy T1 composition. Though it's usually ok to just have the toads blow on the first enemy they come in contact with, it may be more beneficial to force them to move into a better spot to catch more in their blast radius.
This Tier 1 unit is able to explode on contact with enemies and can deal huge damage to the main target, but also does additional damage to units in the tiles near it.

This effect doesn't auto-trigger when toad dies.

Ah toads, the banelings of Tooth and Tail. You can't split your units quite like you can in Starcraft, but there are several ways to deal with them.
* Toads can deal great damage to low-tier units and easily kill multiple enemies at once.

* Any low-tier units should stay away from the toads and the army should try to take out the toads before they can harm the smaller units.

* Counter: Use larger units to tank.

* The most effective way to use a toad is to move-only them into a group of enemies, and then let them attack. This will make full effect of their splash damage, and possibly let you save some toads for later.
